The next generation of SOCs how to build it: AAFO (Agentic Security Operations)

itadol5j

The term SOC (Security Operations Centre) is a term that no one is familiar with as a safe person. But it's a little awkward in the two years: SIEM collects logs, EDR capture terminals, AI SOC helps you with the alerts -- every ring is getting smarter, and the more the police line is clear, the more people work.

ASOP Smart Operating Platform

So a new concept emerged in the industry:ASOP (Agentic Security Operations Platform, Smart Body Secure Operating Platform)I don't know. It's not another SOC product, but a different angle. This article makes it clear: what it is, and where it is, how it landed, what it should ask before buying it.

I. PREPARED CONTEXT: ASO is an operational model

ASO (Agentic Security Operations, Smart Operators)Business model: let AI's smart body and definitive workflow work together to work safely from signal to resolution.

Attention, not just SOC alarm. Identity request, breach detection, compliance forensics, cloud configuration error -Any work that will fall into the manual queue today.. The person is responsible for setting the level of autonomy and always retaining control.

The platform for running this pattern is ASOP. It's safe.Control planeIt has an integrated, workflow, intelligence, case and governance mechanism around it.

II. "Intellectual" and "workstream" are different, but both

It's a crucial distinction. There's a lot of confusion:

  • AI Smart Body: Look at the current situation, move towards objective reasoning, and act through the tools you approved. It's based on what it just found.
  • Workstream: Always running the same steps, exactly what you told him.

Both of them, and one of them, need to be disciplined “where every link is allowed”. That's what it means to control the plane.

III. A graph that understands the ASO boundary

Imagine safe operation as a spectrum from left to right:

  • LeftmostData conduit, log ingestion, decomposition, storage - SIEM territory
  • Centre• Testing, referral, investigation
  • RightRecovery, containment, recovery and feedback loops flowing back to testing

AI SOC only covers the middle. It reads alarm data, reasoning, and gives you a conclusion. It does not need permission to write — that is why it is easy to build, everyone is making it, and it stops there. The result of a system that only concluded the engines and repaired the people, was that the alarms were closed faster, but the backlog remained that high.

ASO Overwrite mid-to-rightThat is, from the moment the alarm is triggered to the time the problem is really fixed. It also stretches to the left for testing - not for running tests (which is also the work of SIEM/EDR/Log security tools), but for operating the perimeters to detect: misreporting of rules, searching for blind areas, verifying whether testing is still effective after environmental changes and re-routing findings into the rules.

There's a good one:A rule was triggered 847 times last month, 812 times automatically.- It's speaking in itself. It is the systems that hold these results data that can act on this information.

One sentence summarizes the difference between three tools:The tools that can only be seen cannot act, the instruments that can only act cannot be reasoned, and the instruments that can only be reasoned are brainless.

IV. WHY “Control plane”

Over the last 10 years,Data Gravity: concentration telemetry, visibility, insight. This logic worked until the amount of data exceeded analytical capacity.

The next 10 years will followWorkstream Gravity: Whoever has the repair flow, he has the result. The lack of visibility of the operation is an expensive monitoring cost.

This explains a counterintuitive phenomenon:AI, the assignment didn't reduce the workload. It just moved the job.I don't know.

Before AI, the queue was limited to human capacity, so low-risk alerts were suppressed and the whole range of tests was closed. AI took the ceiling, and it just went up -- ten times, even a small promotion rate, means many times more manual decision-making than in the past. The machine absorbs the amount of process, not the judgement. The new constraint is called MTTD (Mean Time to Decision, average decision time)I don't know.

Decision-making queues are empty only when there is something to really act on. That thing is the control plane.

V. WHY NOT JUST SOC

This makes ASO a platform, not a plastic SOC tool.

See what every smart body safety program needs:Integration, organization, case tracking, manual approval collaboration, governance and audit with written authorityI don't know. AI SOC needs, smart body loophole management needs, smart IAM, cloud security, GRC, AppSec, threat hunting, detection work - all need the same base.

Separate purchases amount to five reconstructions of the same infrastructure: five audit chains, five approval streams and five things that give the compliance team a headache. Runs on an ASOP, and the context is reciprocated - assets, exposure, identity, case history are all in one place, feeding every intelligence.

This is the real meaning of "making security work smart":Not every task has a smart body on top, but a control plane, which needs a smart body when deduced, and a definite workflow.

Next Generation SOC Construction

VI. How ASOP works: SUDA loop

In the case of Blink, it runs the SUDA cycle--See (see), Underwood (understand), Decide (decision-making), Act (action)Every step of the way there is governance and human control.

  • See: Ingestion of a signal from any tool in a technology warehouse
  • Underwood: withdrawal entity, eutrophication, deweighting, association
  • Decide: Conclusions, assessments of severity and risks, recommendations for action
  • Act: containment, eradication, recovery, imposed by the implementation framework (harness)

The core design principles are:Each stage runs on the cheapest executive floor that can solve it.The checklist is definitive and needs to be judged before it is modelled. Every alarm runs a front-line large model that can't afford -- it's equivalent to turning your token bill into a new SIEM authorization fee.

One sentence:Intelligence reasoning, work stream execution, enforcement framework enforcement.

VII. ASOP vs SOAR vs AI SOC

  • SOAR: It's all up to you. It's exactly what you told it. It's not a judgment.
  • AI SOCIt's a good idea to go to the clinic, stop drawing conclusions, just SOC, or the way you get it from the manufacturer.
  • ASOP: A cross-domain preset smart body program is available on the first day and can be customized - because no two environments look the same

VIII. How can control be assured? The difference between guardrail and harness

It's the whole industrial design idea that I think is worth copying.

Most of the practices in the industry are that a front-line model is used to manage diagnosis, conclusions and responses, and boundaries are written in prompt. But the prompt level fence is essentially a request for a model to perform properly.— It can be misread, ignored or said around.

And... Harness is a platform-level constraint where intelligence can't see, talk or reason.: tool for role territorialization, quarantine execution, resource cap, breaker. It runs under the model, prompt cannot be injected enough.

The difference is:Guardrail is just asking for good behavior, Harness is binding.

Blink puts it on the ground into four verifiable trust mechanisms:

  • Agent Harness.Field tools, segregation, resource caps, breakers, all mandatory under models
  • Challenger Patterson: An independent challenger attacked every conclusion before the adjudicator lets it go
  • Zero Credential Exposure: smart body mobility, key held by vault and controlled workflow
  • Authority not Authority: Smart bodies can only be subject to pre-screened, auditable skills action and are not based on standing authority

Surveillance is also keeping up. The AI Guide issued by the CISA Joint Ally Group recommends a safe design approach.Think of the intelligence as an untrustworthy identity, giving minimal privileges.I don't know. The practical version is to plan the smart body identity and complete audit chain before expanding autonomy, rather than later. The reality is that most organizations have not yet reached this point - an identification survey of the Cloud Safety Alliance in 2026 found that the U.S. government is not in a position to do so.Only 18 percent of companies have a high level of confidence in their own IAM to manage their intelligence identity.I don't know.

IX. Metrics change.

And if your SOC is still reporting, "How many alarms every analyst closes in his class," you measure a process that no longer exists.

The target is from Alerts Triaged Turn Autonomous and Human-on-the-load resolutionsI don't know. The question goes from “how many times we turn off the alarm” to “how many times we fix it”.

This indicator is uncomfortable because it exposes the gap. But it is also the only indicator that can link safe operational inputs and safety outcomes.

How to land: a path to maturity

Use not a switch, it's a path:

Artisanal Automation AI Auxiliary Smart Leadership and Approval Framework for Self-Operation

Trust is earned, not awarded. Starting from where the burden of dispensaries is most heavy, as trust is built gradually, then the same platform is used in the next area — integration, case management, approval flow, audit chain — that is what it means to “do on the platform”.

Remember:This is a human, process and technology shift, not a procurement exercise.

XI. HOW TO ASSOP

Don't stare at the functional list, at control and coverage. Nine points of inspection:

  • Full closed circle: consultation, investigation, response, not a conclusion and transmission
  • Cross-domainSoc, IAM, VM, GRC, cloud security, not just SOC
  • Vendor neutrality and integration breadth: Be able to match the tools you already have, not lock the technology vault
  • Preset and customizable: There's a plan on the first day and it can change, not a black box
  • Ownership control: Autonomy levels are routinely set, adjusted for trust growth
  • Default person in ring: High-risk operations open with approval
  • Auditable, evidence available: Every decision and action can be reviewed and exported for audit
  • Test works are in range.: Modified, covered blind areas, validated, returned flow of results - but the platform does not pretend that it is a testing engine
  • Deployment speed: A few days of real results, not a long-term project

What's the real effect?

Blink gave two public cases (manufacturing data, refer to):

  • HUMAN Security: 123 threatened hunting intelligence bodies, 11 of which required manual review, 2 of which were real discoveries requiring patches, and intelligent bodies saved teams more than 100 hours of manual work
  • A global insurance company.: work flow of intelligent bodies expanded from 5 to 30 + and time of resolution of alarms 15 minutes to 1 minute. Here. Internal

Blink claims to have 30,000+integrator, 500+preset smart-body templates that finance over $100 million. These figures carry the manufacturer's position, but the direction is clear:The result was never “how many alarms have been turned off” but “how many problems have been fixed”.

Smart works safely.

At the end: a paradigm migration

Looking back, the SIEM era solves "see," the SOAR era solves "enforceable" and the AI SOC age solves "judgment". And ASOP is trying to solve the last link:Turning judgement into a closed circle, allowing action to really land.

It's worth more than a few intelligent bodies.Moving the focus of safe operation from "data" to "workstream"I don't know. Whoever has the repair flow, has the results — the phrase in the next five years may be more important than any technical detail.

Of course, don't get lost in the concept. ASOP is currently proposed by the manufacturer and defined by the manufacturer (BlinkOps, Elastic, Optiv, SEC1, all in this direction), and standards and boundaries are still in shape. The real basis of judgment is simple:Could it get your team out of the "Call of Police" and fix the real problem?

AI SOC gives you a conclusion, ASOP helps you turn it into a fix.
